Puerto Rican Crested Anole

Anolis cristatellus

Habitat:

forests, disturbed fields, scrub, urban areas

Notes:

I almost dismissed the goings on of some brown anoles on a tree this morning assuming they were just the ever present Cuban Browns (A. saegrei), but a large very dark male caught my eye. He was very robust and impressive looking so I decided to take a couple of shots. Then it started to display and I realized the dewlap color wasn't right for saegri. I was very pleased to get my first spotting of the Puerto Rican Crested Anole, another introduced species here. Also on same tree today: Cuban Browns and Green (A. carolinensis). In the past I've seen a few Bark Anoles on this same tree.
