Palm Nut Vulture

Gypohierax angolensis

Description:

Huge bird, must be 60-70cm high when sitting. White body with black tail and edges of wings. tones of beige on the body also, visible when flying. Head is feathered, but quite large red bald patches around the eyes.

Habitat:

Seen on an old dead tree on the banks of the Ruvu river, about 3km inland from the coast.
