Speckled Lipped Skink

Trachylepis maculilabris

Description:

Small skink about 12cm long (has lost his original tail though!), Pale underbelly, Olive green to brown dorsal with orange stripe along the side. Yellow ring around the eyes.

Habitat:

Seen in leaf litter in coastal scrub very near to the beach in Pangani.

Notes:

Love skinks, this one was busy catching ants. He could be a slender skink or a common skink .. but he seems more distinctive than that, but have not found him yet. Updated ID. Thank you Scott Frazier for the ID!
