fungus

Ganoderma sp.?

Description:

This may be a member of the Ganoderma lucidum complex, (related to) a Lingzhi mushroom. This is based on several similar spottings in the same area including http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/101... which include a form which matches the image in the link. This spotting is interesting because most of the (new) growths are occurring on previous (old) growths. The last photos show the fine pores on the underside of the fungus.

Habitat:

Observed growing on a coconut palm stump in a large semi-urban yard & garden, near a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.
