Horsehair Worm

Description:

A long flexible parasite that is often found in crickets and occasionally humans. They are also called Gordian Worms because they twist about like a gordian knot. This one was about a foot an a half.

Habitat:

Horsehair worms are found in damp places like ponds or feeding troughs. This one is in a landscaped fish pond. The fish eat a lot of wild crickets and grasshoppers.
