Grey-Black cap with white gills. Saccate volva below soil surface. No staining.
Pine and Maple forest.
Gray cap; white gills. No staining. White spore print.
I do believe there was a volva but I may be mistaken. There was only one, which made it even harder to id.
Was there really a volva at the base? This looks like a Russula species to me.
