Ischnoderma resinosum

Description:

Soft and fleshy, easy to bruise when touching it, little droplets of water oozing out, orange-brownish on top, whitish underneath.

Habitat:

On a recently downed tree, on the underside of recently uprooted root mass near Great Hill, Central Park.

Notes:

Weird how soft it was, like warm cheese.

you might check a really young innotus dryadeus - it also dewaters conspicuously - it's a common root rot in Central Park
