Sphingid Moth

Description:

Looking like a stranded ancient bi-plane this moth is brown, with a fat body. Wings have a checked design...I am not sure I have seen checks on moths before....stripes and bands, yes.

Habitat:

Suntaley Khola guest house; drawn to the porch light. Settled on the wall; way above me...I stood on a chair and raised arms to shoot blind. This is about the only usable shot I got.

Notes:

Not Bardhaman but the Dooars area of West Bengal.

Riyan...this one is big indeed...but you should see the REALLY big ones. Like these two I saw. 4 of my fingers would cover just one wing.

Wow! This moth is so big that it doesn't even look like a moth.
