Unnamed spotting

Hardenbergia sp.

Description:

small flower perhaps 7mm. Sparse plant, low growing among grass and open scrub on clay, stony soil. Large oval leaves also very sparse on a slender stem.

Notes:

All of the local references say that the species hereabouts is the one named but the flowers on this vines are sparse and the leaves are more rounded so I suggest this is a local sub-species possibly overlooked by the various references or another species altogether. This was also a late summer plant and in the book it is Spring flowering Also Purple Pea Flower (Reader's Digest. Gardeners's Encyclopedia)
