Family: Tropiduridae
About 12cm long, excluding the tail. Very well camouflaged against the rocky, sandy ground. Base colour is pale with two lateral brown stripes and a broad dorsal stripe with V-shaped dark markings; top of the head is also brown, with a dark patch at the posterior corner of the eye and a dark stripe along the mouth.
Found in an arid area on the western slope of the Ecuadorian Andes, called "Desierto de Jubones", at about 1500m above sea level.

Thanks, Christine! Yes, they're difficult to spot unless they move!
Great camouflage!
