Stout blue-eyed grass

Sisyrinchium angustifolium

Description:

This small wildflower has grass-like leaves and flowers about half an inch across. It looks a bit like a lily, but it is a member of the iris family (Iridaceae). The flowers bloom in spring through early summer.

Habitat:

Found in fields and forest edges.

Notes:

I have a lot of favorite flowers, but this one is special.
