Ceramic Parchment

Xylobolus frustulatus

Description:

Ceramic Parchment is a saprobic fungus, which I spotted growing gregariously on a rotting log in patches of adjacent frustules. The individual fruiting bodies were irregularly shaped, resupinate, and were approximately 3-5mm in size. They were light pink and had a soft, fuzzy texture.

Habitat:

Growing on the side of a rotting log in a deciduous forest.
