Crowned Lapwing

Vanellus coronatus

Description:

Medium sized bird, tall red legs, short red and black beak. White belly plumage, chest plumage grades from black to tan and through to light grey under the beak. Back and wing plumage is a light tan with black markings under the tail. The head is black with a white halo all the way around the head just above the eyes.

Habitat:

Seen in open grassland.
