Grayling

Hipparchia semele

Description:

Every time I got close to this it would fly off a few metres and settle with the wings open for a couple of seconds before closing them. This revealed its true colours but I was not able to photograph it in time.

Habitat:

Limestone outcrop in foothills of los Serranos mountains.
