The Friar Butterfly

Amauris niavius

Description:

Reasonably large Butterfly with black and white speckled body, and white wings with black edging. white on the wings is quite strikingly white.

Habitat:

Seen in leaf litter in coastal woodland.

Notes:

I had trouble to ID this one, but finally found it was one of the species being bred in the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre in the Jozani forest, so full ID found. yay!
