Belíssima série sobre um dos meus insetos preferidos. Parabéns. Por favor, onde em Curitiba você o achou?
Ok, we got it. It is indeed Dorynota (Dorynota) pugionota, confirmed by Marianna Simoes from the University of Kansas who did an excellent review about the genus Dorynota. Many thanks, Marianna, for your assistance, which is much appreciated!
I try to get a confirmation of my closer ID of Dorynota pugionota from an expert. I just get a paper from her...
Thank you all, seriously. I'll come back to the place I found it to see if I get to take better pictures to ID the species. Thank you bayucca, you're really helpful in all my spotting!!
Chrysomelidae, Cassidinae, Dorynotini, Dorynota (Dorynota) sp., the second Dorynota is the subgenus, since there is another subgenus of Akantaka in genus Dorynota. Unfortunately I cannot really tell you which one it is. They look all "identical" and we would need a clear picture from the top to see other markings. There are several candidate like Dorynota monocerus, Dorynota gladiator (possibly a synonym of Dorynota monocerus??), Dorynota pugionota.
