Cephalotes clypeatus

Notes:

These ants lived in the huge termite mounds that were in the savannah, and were active during the night. During the day, they stayed inside the mounds.

The termite mounds were active with termites, and 6 to 10 feet tall. I don't think there was any interaction between the ants and termites, they were just taking shelter during the hot day inside the mound. At night my friend and I witnessed these ants tending treehoppers. And during the day a different species of ant tended the same treehoppers.

Impressive and unusual ant !! What are those turtles and ants up to !? :) I'm curious about ants inside termite mounds... partnership going on? or is it generic 'termite mound' ?
