Chlorosyilbon fortificatus
This tiny jewel is endemic to Cozumel Island in Mexico, it is bright emerald green, the bill is orange with a black tip. Female is green on the back and gray in the chest. I don't know why I can't get the spotting to say "Cozumel Island" instead of Playa del Carmen. This little bird is endemic to Cozumel and does NOT live in Playa.
Brushy and scrubby woodlands or second growth.
Such a thrill to find this tiny jewel on my first day on Cozumel Island; right on the grounds of the place where I was staying. Beauty and perfection. Come to Mexico!
