Tringa semipalmata

A willet on the beach side of Cocoa Beach, Florida. This is my first time ever seeing a sandpiper type bird and I must say they're bigger than I thought. Though it has a funny name it's actually onomatopoeic and refers to it's territory call.

The willet can be found throughout the southern Coast of the US, the Coasts of Mexico and down into Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the surrounding islands .Along with parts of Central and the upper coastal areas of South America. It's a rare vagrant to Europe.
