Flatid Planthopper (Nymph)

Flatidae

Description:

Whitish insect, about 8mm to 1cm in length. Found it on the trunk of a banana tree. A Flatid Planthopper nymph like this one - http://bugguide.net/node/view/403805, but I could not get to the genus/species level yet. Could be the nymph of the flatid in this spotting - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/172....

Habitat:

Backyard.

Wow, cool! Thanks for your site, Andrea! It is the same as my spotting.

The adult hopper in your blog is a Black Planthopper or Ricaniid Planthopper (Ricania speculum). Could my spotting be an instar of this hopper?

The usual Ricaniid nymph form that I am seeing in our garden, and even here in PN, is like this - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/168....
