Pennant-Winged Nightjar

Macrodipteryx vexillarius

Description:

One of the only places to see the Pennant-Winged Nightjar is near Punda Maria rest camp in Kruger National Park. We went on an evening game drive with one of the guides, and just as it was getting dark we arrived at the spot where you can see them. Two were flying in the evening sky, almost too dark to make them out, one landed on the ground in front of our safari vehicle. The pennants make them almost look like kites as they flutter through the evening sky.
