Orb Weaving spider

Argiope savignyi

Description:

A pretty black and white spider. The back was completely white with small amount of black showing in the rear area. The first segment of legs were a red-brown and the last alternating bands of black brown and white.

Habitat:

The spider was found @12:00 sitting almost invisibly (700 masl) in an ingenious web on the screen of our front window in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

An attractive spider with a very unique web. I had to look twice to even see it sitting there.

Thanks Mauna - I have several different sightings of this type spider. I think their webs are really cool.
