Ratufa indica
Also called Malabar giant squirrel, this is a large squirrel weighing up to 2 kg and with a body length of 40 cm. Very beautiful squirrel which prefers the upper canopy and makes spectacular jumps of up to 6 meters to travel between tree tops. Feeds on leaves and fruits. Fairly common in western ghats.

Thank you Pradeep...
Wonderful spotting!
Thank you Dr.Sherpa... They are fairly common in Kerala's forests...especially when fruits are in abundance...
I used to see them during my childhood, no more now. Sad! Your shots - as always - are fantastic!
