Description:

This flowering shrub has hairy, non-thorny stems, maple-like leaves and produces pinkish-purple flowers. The fruit resembles raspberries and is usually red or purple. It can be found over much of the eastern half of North America. Rose family.

Habitat:

Semi-forested, rocky area, mountainous. Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.
