Australian Pelican

Pelecanus conspicillatus

Description:

I have added a video of the pelican feeding! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o_hxNGa...) Overall, the Australian pelican is predominantly white in colour. There is a white panel on the upper-wing and a white-V on the rump set against black along the primaries. The non-breeding adult has its bill and eye-ring a pale yellow and the pouch is a pale pinkish.

Habitat:

This solitary Pelican was feeding on mullet (seen jumping out of the water) at May River on Meda Station.

Notes:

My first time seeing a Pelican feeding this way!!! I have just put up my first ever video on PN :D Reference: The Michael Morcombe eGuide to Australian Birds, Mobile App. Reference: http://birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/aust... Further reading: http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/t...
