Candy-apple Waxy Cap

Hygrocybe cuspidata

Description:

Small, conical red-orange Hygrocybe mushroom with yellow-orange (dry and slightly ridged) stipe. A little dried out from the lack of rain. Gills, caps, and stem did not bruise upon cutting--so I am assuming this is not Hygrocybe conicus (Witch's Hat). Features point to Hygrocybe cuspidata/acuticonica. This is basically a red version of the normally yellow Hygrocybe acutoconica. Any ID corrections/suggestions are most welcome!

Habitat:

Base of ridge in dense mixed hardwood forest. Surrounded by mulch.
