Chalcites basalis
This lovely little bird is distinguished by its green and bronze iridescent colouring on its back and incomplete brown barring from neck to tail. What distinguishes the Horsfield’s Bronze-cuckoo from other bronze cuckoos is its white eyebrow and brown eye stripe (Wiki). [A juvenile has] no bars on front but rufous in tail is diagnostic. My second time I have ever seen this species! First time was five days ago - at a different location and it was an adult :) Reference: http://www.graemechapman.com.au/library/... Reference: http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species...
