Atlantic Horseshoe Crab

Description:

Up to 2 feet long, 1 foot wide. The Horseshoe Crab is the only one of its kind in American waters. It feeds on invertebrates, bivalves, and worms, which it grinds with the edges of its walking legs, near the mouth.

Habitat:

on mud or sand bottoms, from near low-tide line to water 75 feet deep
