Lion's Mane

Hericium erinaceus

Description:

White, toothed fungus; approximately 5 inches long and 10-12 inches wide; teeth approximately 1 to 1.5 long in a single lobe

Habitat:

Growing in an old ‘wound’ approximately 10 feet up on the trunk of an old oak tree. Tree was located on the top of a west-facing embankment by a rural county road that was in full sunlight from midday until sunset.
