Stump-toed gecko

Gehyra mutilata

Description:

Dark-colored gecko that has the ability to vocalize like a cricket. The stump-toed gecko has this in common with the Tokay gecko.

Habitat:

Seen on a windowsill on the east side of the Big Island, HI. Invasive on the Hawaiian islands. Native to SE Asia.

Notes:

When I first saw this lizard, it was dark outside and I mistook it for a gold dust day gecko. That’s why I didn’t take any close ups (regrettably!).
