Short Pine

Pinus contorta var. contorta

Description:

This spotting is of the pine in the foreground of both photos, and you can see more detail of one tree in the first photo in the bottom right corner. Short pine is a variation of the lodgepole pine.

Habitat:

Found in a muskeg (like a cold-climate bog) near a salmon creek. This was the first time I saw blue sky on my 10-day Alaska trip, and it was a great thing when the sun finally did come out :)
