Blackneck Garter Snake

Thamnophis Cyrtopsis

Description:

Blackneck Garter Snake, about 12 inches long. It was a beautiful snake.

Habitat:

High desert, in grasslands just below a boulder field.

Notes:

Didn't expect to see it in such harsh desert terrain - I usually associate them with various locales in the Jemez or Sandias which are much more moist.
