Patagioenas fasciata
Longer in length then the Rock Pigeon and larger in body to the morning dove. These birds mostly resemble the Rock Pigeon, except the Band-tailed has a longer, wider tail. There is a white crescent on the back of the head. Blue-gray upperparts and purplish-gray underparts. A strange pattern below the crescent that almost makes it look ruffled. Tail has half gray, fading to a pale gray band at the tip. Feet and bill are an orange-yellow with black tip on the bill.
Pacific coast forested mountains. Moving from tree to tree for food and to hide from danger.
1st photo I spotted it in a tree with small flock. The flock took off and I ran into them again in a shaded forest.
