Red-eared slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

I saw a few turtles. One was on the trail trying to lay her eggs in the gravel.

They typically live between 20 and 30 years, although some individuals have lived for more than 40 years. The red-eared slider is included in the list of the world's 100 most invasive species but is native here.
