Purple Pitcher Plant

Sarracenia purpurea

Description:

The flowers (though dead) were still standing, and they are what tipped me off that there were pitcher plants here. The pitchers were short and wide, and had "hairs" on the inside of the lids. A large cluster of them were thriving here.

Habitat:

Growing among the cattails in a lake; they were so close to the water some of the pitchers were actually hanging over it.
