Mantled Howler Monkey

Alouatta palliata

Description:

One of the largest Central American monkeys and the most often seen and heard in Central America.

Habitat:

forests of Central and South America

Notes:

Along with the white-faced Capuchins, Mantled Howler monkeys also visited the grounds of my guesthouse beside Cahuita National Park. They were less common and more skittish than the Capuchins.
