Boletus Fungus

Tylopilus sp

Description:

6 or 7cm round, umbrella shaped fungi. No gills or spores on the underside which is pale beige or off-white. The top surface is slimy (a layer of clear slime) and gives off a very slight smell similar to edible mushrooms. The underside is cool and moist like suede. It is firm but not hard (maybe Tylopilus sp) Thanks RandyL for that Assist

Habitat:

The small white patches in image five are the two fungi in state. Mown grass in an apartment block. Under two gum trees. The lawn is not cared for apart from mowing. A week of consistent rain. They grow in a pile of twigs and small branches some residents have left for the mowing team to pick up. No traffic on the grass at all apart from mowers (monthly sit-on mower)

Notes:

The internet says that one cannot get poisoned by fungi through contact but despite not putting them near my mouth and washing my hands I have a blistered tongue and a feeling in one hand as though I have slapped it hard on a surface. Allergic reaction possibly or I may have been bitten by something while I was bumbling about with the photographs.. Face went close in order to smell it. My arm is burning slightly. Could be meds but not usually a reaction without other effects # mushy mar 14

Thanks RandyL. I figured that might be so but best to make a note just on the tiny chance someone else comes across it. It all went away quickly anyhow. Thanks for the id. I will put that in notes and tags and research it a bit and see what I can find

The mushroom did not poison you by contact, it's more likely a plant did that.
