Casuarina equisetifolia
Tree approx. 15m tall, sometimes producing suckers, can form almost pure stands on coastal sand dunes. Male and female flowers are found on separate plants. Roots may form nitrogen fixing nodules. Aboriginals used the wood to make spears and chewed the leaves to quench thirst.

Great series & info on a lovely Australian tree Vinny. I'm always tempted to break off a stem & snap the tiny segments!
