Autographa biloba
A medium sized looper moth with outstanding amounts of iridescence to the scales. The moth has 2 pairs of silver eyespots that are way bigger than the ones you would see on other looper moths in Texas and in North America. The moth also has lots of golden scales surrounding the area with the eyespots. The moths defense against preadetors are its large scary eyespots. It sort of looks like a mad scary cat.
It lives in places like rainforests in South America or in grasslands in Texas. The moth also lives in urban areas like the one I found was attracted to a black light setup.
The moth has 2 generations per year with one brood hatching in the fall and one in the spring.
