Leaf Beetle

Unidentified Chrysomelidae

Description:

Unidentified Chrysomelidae, possibly Galerucinae. The big black "claw" on all six legs should maybe be a clue to its identity, but I have not found a match yet.

Habitat:

Spotted on roadside foliage along the edge of a rice field.

Thanks, Mark. Sorry to take so long to answer. I saw your comment coming in and we immediately had a power outage. So, I couldn't answer because although my laptop runs on its battery, the Converge modem needs power. Usually, it is no problem, we just start up the generator, but its cooling system is all stripped down to incorporate some improvements. Anyway the power just came back on. It's a small price to pay for living in a tropical paradise :-) John B.
