Green heron

Butorides virescens

Description:

Medium sized shore bird of about 12 to 15 inches high with a sharp beak of 4 to 6 inches in length. Colors include brownish to reddish striping with a green blue cap on its head. First observed on a pos then it moved to under a dock.

Habitat:

Feeding near a dock area on an intracoastal waterway on the Atlantic Ocean.
