Description:

Produces scarlet fruit in late summer which is edible raw and cooked. Seeds inside are crunchy. Fever-reducing, and has anti-flammatory properties. Unripe berries could cause stomach aches.

Habitat:

Damp clearings and cool forests.

Notes:

Part of the herb family. Found while canoe tripping summer 2010. Used as a trail nibble And since plentiful was the base of jam accompanied with wild cherries and raspberry. Information Source referenced from "edible and medicinal plants of Canada "
