Description:

There are large flocks of these migratory ducks at the North Carolina coast this winter. They often are seen swimming in wetlands together with Northern shovelers, tundra swans, ruddy ducks and other water fowl.

Habitat:

Bodie Island pond

Notes:

They gray-hued elegant duck in the first photo is the male, while the second photo shows the brown-hued female.
