Description:

Small passerine bird (~13cm). Red cap, black chin, brown streaks on flanks and rump. Male has rosy breast and sides.

Habitat:

Common. Breeds in subarctic forests and tundra. Winterize in brush and weedy areas of the boreal forest and prairies.
