Blister beetle

Epicauta hirsutipubescens

Description:

Roughly 15 millimeters in body length, colored as shown, with distinct longitudinal ridges on the elytra (wing covers).

Habitat:

Attracted to lights at a gas station in a heavily urbanized section of Tucson.

Notes:

Identification tentative, by me, from comparison to other images. E. virgulata is the other possibility. It is difficult to ID many meloids without dissecting the genitalia.
