Some birds like your cardinal see their reflection in the car mirror and think it's another bird in his territory and try fighting with it. One way to stop that is to cover the car mirror with a bag or cloth while the car is parked in the yard.
cool spot! This one cardinal comes almost every day and jumps on are car,scratches are windows, and looks at his reflection in the windows, too. it gets kinda annoying. But i got used to it. ;)
