Sandava scitisignata
This delicate white moth had a wingspan of 20mm. Both wings had black and brown patterns and thin wavy black lines which were better defined in the hind wings. The front legs showed dense brown setae. It looked like the forewings had a tinge of colour (cream) Feathery antennae - might be male.
Moth larvae lives off fungus on dead trees and is seen in the eastern coastal areas of Australia; more frequently in the southern parts. Distribution: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Sandava+sc...
My thanks to A. Talavera for the ID. Nice to have a white Noctuid. Female moth (seen abut 10 days later): http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/191...
It's a pretty noctuid Leuba, but still reminds me of geometridae hehehe...
Agnes, Thank you so much for the ID..I am so glad it's a Noctuid and not another geometrid !! and a pretty one too.
