Reddish Wave - female

Scopula rubraria

Description:

A geometrid moth with a wing sapn of 20 mm. Wings were a pale reddish-brown with wavy patterns of dark brown. Each fore wing showed a single dark spot in the middle of the wing. Antennae were thread-like

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights near a national park.

Notes:

Females of this species look much like the males http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/194... Larvae of this species feed on a variety of soft herbaceous plants. I am yet to see a fresh reddish wave. I have spotted several and they always look a little tired, a little damaged and show scale-loss. Family: Geometridae Subfamily: Sterrhinae
