Couratari tree

Couratari sp.

Description:

Taken at Brownsberg Naturepark, Suriname. This is probably the largest tree I've ever seen in my life. All the other trees in the rainforest were toothpicks compared to this monster. I believe I have the right genus, but if anyone else knows more about these trees than I do, please point me in the right direction.

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest, Guiana Shield, Suriname.

Nice, I'm totally fine with it.

Added a photo of myself next to the tree for scale purposes ONLY. If a Ranger feels this violates the rules, please let me know and I'll remove it. I simply wanted to show just how large this tree was.

Love those rainforest giants! I think PN wants to keep humans out of the first photo of a spotting but they can be acceptable in other photos to show scale. I know I have done it. Sometimes you need that person in the photo to really appreciate the size of a tree or organism.
