Orange-backed Woodpecker

Reinwardtipicus validus

Description:

It (or they) was (were) high in the trees and mostly in shadow but the sun was almost directly behind them and it was very misty. We saw more than one but I think this may be the same bird in all 3 pictures. After taking these we tried moving to a better position further along the road but there was too much vegetation in the way.

Habitat:

Tropical montane rainforest
